History of EDTA Inc​​​

EDTA commenced in 1974 & is dedicated to the promotion of Dance & Theatre Arts. Uniquely Australian in origin, it offers children through to adults an all encompassing training system, in which all Theatre Arts can be combined & studied.​​​​​​​​​​


Since its beginning, EDTA Inc. has grown to become a major force in all facets of the performing arts. Members and Administration together continually strive to aim for high standards and are always seeking new and varied experiences for members and students. The popularity of this organisation is brought about by the diversity offered in all of its syllabi.

Graded Examinations are available from Novice, Introductory, Grades 1 – 4, Pre-Elementary, Elementary, Associate Technique, Associate Diploma (Assistant Teacher qualifications) Members Technique, Members Diploma (full Teaching qualifications) Licentiate (Ballet only) in all Facets.

Classical Ballet, Modern/Contemporary, Lyrical Ballet, Musical Theatre, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, European (Polish, Hungarian, Russian, Spanish & Highland) Speech & Drama. Students receive Certificate, medal & detailed report for Examinations.  Marking System – Pass, Credit, Commended, Highly Commended, Honours, Distinction. Standards are high, aimed at producing students who are able to adequately enjoy and give enjoyment as artists.


In 2003 the Association was Incorporated & registered as a not for profit association to allow further growth & artistic development. EDTA Incorporated now has a new  & exciting Syllabus in all facets, choreographed by talented & professional people, who are committed to continuous development.

The Association's ambition is to promote ideas in education in dance and theatre arts and maintain the highest possible standard, supply demonstrations to members, provide student workshops, provide Dance and Drama Festivals and hold bi-annual Classical Ballet Bursaries.​
